Make-A-Wish Iowa has the unique ability to transform a child and family's life during some of life's most difficult trials - as a wish creates an opportunity for hope and the ability to experience life beyond illness. They believe a wish is not simply a nice thing to do, in the fight against a critical illness, each wish serves as a catalyst for renewed strength and encouragement for every child, family and entire communities throughout their journey's of life.
Simply said, Make-A-Wish Iowa believes a single wish transforms lives and together, we createlife-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Research shows children who have wishes granted build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their critical illness, improving their quality of live, producing better health outcomes, reducing hospital visits and healthcare costs.
Their mission is their common starting point and ending point. It is what unites entire communities, what they strive for and ultimately what they do - every single day. In Iowa, it is Make-A-Wish Iowa’s goal to grant the wish of every eligible child across the state.
The summer is their largest wish granting season, granting over 30% of our budgeted 170 annual wishes. In 2020 alone, Make-A-Wish Iowa budgeted to grant over 60 wishes during this time.
This is where we need your help - your gift of time and money is crucial for children battling critical illnesses and also brings together entire communities in life-changing moments, as this is the true #PowerOfAWish.
#TeamSmith has committed to raise at least $5,000 to help ensure wishes do not have to be waiting as long as they are currently. We know we can do it with your help over the next several months wrapping up the campaign on July 31, 2020.
