For Decades, Our Father’s Business Philosophy Helped Shape Our Success. So Did Mom’s Appreciation Of Value.

Our story begins in 1975, when our dad started remodeling and building custom homes in the Dubuque area, establishing Ron Smith and Sons Construction.

At the time, just about every job had a component of millwork or cabinetry. Some projects would be delayed, waiting for items to arrive at the work site. Then, when they arrived, they were wrong or not the quality dad had expected. What seemed to be a logical solution was to start building custom cabinetry. We did just that, working hard to maintain dad’s quality standards because we knew that nothing was more important than exceeding our customers’ expectations. It didn’t take long for us to learn that value and quality go hand in hand. With the demand for such products, we added custom cabinetry and furniture to our services and started Smith Cabinet Works in 1999, a division of Ron Smith & Sons Construction.

It wasn’t a big stretch for mom and dad to expand what they offered to customers by opening Smith Home Gallery soon after. At the time, mom knew there was a need for quality, affordable home furnishings and accessories, and dad needed more room in the shop to keep up with customer orders. We moved our cabinet showroom to Smith Home Gallery and everything came together to better serve our customers.

Even after all these years, we are still gratified to see the results we deliver to our many, outstanding customers. It’s a blessing to build relationships with such devoted individuals. We are thankful for their friendships and continuous patronage.

Today, our family and professional design experts at Smith Home Gallery & Cabinet Works not only help customers select home furnishings and cabinetry, they provide lasting and exceptional results. Mom and Dad wouldn’t have had it any other way.
